Dr. Eddie Dunlap was born and raised in West Virginia. He graduated with honors from West Virginia University in 1980, with a BA Degree in Biology. His optometric education was received at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee, from which he graduated with honors in June of 1984.
Dr. Dunlap began private practice in Albemarle in January of 1985 as an associate with Dr. Cecil Duckworth, who had practiced in Stanly County since World War II. Dr. Dunlap fully took over the practice, renaming it “Dunlap Vision Center” in June of 1985.
“Dr. Eddie’s” personal interests include landscaping, church activities, and golf.
Dr. Janice (Biggerstaff) Dunlap was born and raised in Burnsville in the mountains of North Carolina. She entered North Carolina State University in 1978, majoring in Genetics and Science Education. She completed her BS Degree in 1982, and graduated at the top of her Southern College of Optometry class in 1985. The two doctors Dunlap married in 1983. She joined her husband in private practice in Albemarle in September of 1985.
“Dr. Janice’s” personal interests include taking care of her family, reading, volunteering in community non-profit organizations, and church activities. The doctors have three grown sons – Daniel (a medical resident at Savannah Memorial Hospital), Gabriel (a UNC-Chapel Hill grad currently in flight school), and Nathaniel (a recent Gardner-Webb University graduate in Sports Management). "Junior," the family's Golden Retriever is often found hanging around Dunlap Vision Center, too.
